Match Report v Beaulieu

Beaulieu 157 Nomansland 161-5- Nomansland won by 5 wickets

Nomansland were hard hit by unavailability and travelled to Beaulieu with ten men only to discover that their opponents were in exactly the same boat. Sam Dempster won the toss and invited the hosts to bat. They started well however with an opening stand of 65 that was broken when Pooley was bowled by Matt Rowland for 33. His opening partner Cliff Bannell played the anchor role as wickets started to fall at the other end, with only Charlie Maton (15) and extras with 37 reaching double figures. All five visiting bowlers took wickets, with the ‘spin twins’ comprising Matt Rowland (2-42) and Gary Loveless (3-29) doing most damage. Bannell carried his bat and ended on 58 not out as Bealieu were all out at tea for 157.

Regular Nomansland umpire Tony Jolliffe had been pressed into playing and opened the batting with Gary Loveless and the pair put on a useful 30 before Jolliffe edged one behind and departed for 12. Sam Dempster (21) added 43 with Loveless before being bowled, and then Rich Dempster (21) and Loveless added a further 53 before both fell with the score on 126 (Loveless 54). Another wicket fell soon after, but any worries were quickly dispelled as James Mason (23 not out) and Ben Westhead (4 not out) saw the visitors home by 5 wickets with 10 overs to spare. Pooley with 3-29 bowled well for Beaulieu.
